Dance Port Townsend has ended its monthly (mostly second Saturday) dances, effective immediately. Dance PT may sponsor occasional workshops and/or dances in the future - just no more regularly scheduled dances.
Looks like another great schedule of Cajun and Zydeco music in Port Townsend this year! Here's the low-down from Karl:
How ya been? Still movin'? I hope so, and that you have good memories of past
Zydeco dances to tell stories about.
Welcome to the 2nd half of 2012 C/Z dance season!
This CADECO news letter is sent out with several repeated and random messages all circling C/Z to bring you up to beat... SO hang on here we go again.
Zachariah Cassady of Waltz etcetera in Seattle has created a new site for Seattle-area dances and other events. It doesn't try to be comprehensive, but focuses on the events of Waltz etcetera, the Northwest Dance Network, Dance for Joy, Left Foot Boogie, Waltz Cafe, Roll Up the Rug, and Sonny Newman's Dance Hall. It will be updated every few days and should be a great resource for folks looking to get a dance fix in Seattle.
From Joe Thompson:
Bolero Dance Workshop
The Cuban "Dance of Love"
It is danced as a very slow type of Rumba rhythm. The music is frequently arranged with Spanish vocals and a subtle percussion effect and the slow dreamy music gives Bolero a very slow, smooth, powerful, romantic look and feeling. The foot patterns are similar to Rumba but have a very different feeling.
Joe Thompson is organizing a 2 hour workshop on the Olympic Peninsula designed for intermediate level dancers taught by Roberto Villamarin.
Due to a last-minute scheduling conflict, Manresa Castle isn't available for the Milonga scheduled for May 5th (tonight!)

We have been informed by the Castle that Thursday and Friday night are not available to us for tango this month. We apologize for this inconvenience and we hope to see you in June.
Liz and Mike Fessler
After the first class there have been some changes - to class times, meeting dates, and fees. Check out the updated entry.
