From Deb Groenig:

What: Music from all genres presented for your dancing enjoyment by Debbie and Doug Groenig, Cheri Van Hoover, and Rocky Day.

When: The first Friday of every month from 7:00 to 9:30 PM.

Where: The Quimper Grange located at 1219 Corona Street, Port Townsend, WA.

Cost: Donations gladly accepted.

Here's how it works: We have loaded literally thousands of danceable songs into an iPod and have it set to shuffle. The music plays continuously for the entire time and every song is a new adventure. We never know which tune will pop up next, and neither will you, but it is all music you can move and groove to. Among the included music and dance styles are swing, blues, waltz, fox trot, salsa, bachata, cha-cha, rhumba, zydeco, Cajun, country, and even the occasional polka!

Some evenings have themes, with a special music mix, as can be seen below. Once a year we host a full-scale potluck party in celebration of the entire dance community. You are welcome to bring light snacks and finger foods to the regular monthly practice dances if you like. The donations we receive will make it possible to go all out to support our special parties and theme nights.

We welcome dancers of all levels, especially beginners, and will offer a brief lesson at the beginning of the evening. The broad mix of musical styles encourages exploration and experimentation. Information about dance etiquette, such as line of dance, is available at the entry table. This is an opportunity for playful practice in an open, noncompetitive community. We ask that you do not wear scents out of respect for our friends who are sensitive.
