Katzenjammer, the music duo of Charlie Gould and Val Vontourne, will open Olympic Peninsula Dance's 2011-12 season on Friday, September 16 at the Port Townsend Elks. For more than a decade Gould and Vontourne have been performing together, appearing at ballroom dance clubs including Olympia's Love to Dance, the Dance Club of Olympia, Dance Club of Grays Harbor, the Soiree Dance Club in Olympia, USA dance clubs, and Manhattan Ballroom Dance Club. Their music has also been enjoyed by dancers in Redmond and Bellevue, as well as at many different Eagles and Elks clubs from Tacoma and Gig Harbor to Bremerton and Lake City. Katzenjammer plays a wide variety of music styles, including East Coast and West Coast Swing, Nightclub, Two Step, Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Mambo, Meringue, Foxtrot, Bolero, Hustle, Tango, and Cowboy Cha Cha. They even enjoy tossing in the occasional Polka -- all to the delight of dancers.

This is a smoke-free dance open to all ages. Water and beverages are available at the bar.

There will be a free (with admission) dance lesson in Rhumba with Jone Thompson and Lynete Holloway at 7:00pm.. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. No partner or registration is necessary.

Admission: Adults $15; 12 and under $7; after 10:00pm, Adults $7.
