KPTZ 91.9FM cordially invites all of Port Townsend to the 1st annual Party on the Pier, a concert and fundraiser featuring live music by Funk Force Attacks, a Seattle-based, horn-driven eight-piece funk band.

This all-ages event begins at 5 p.m. on Union Wharf, downtown at the end of Taylor Street, with the beauty of Port Townsend Bay as its backdrop. A beer and wine garden will be available to those 21 and over. Admission is by donation; suggested is $10 per person.

In between band sets, local DJ Silace Amaro will be spinning a rare, all-vinyl, funk music set to keep the dance floor hopping.

Funk Force Attacks features Alex Dugdale, saxophone, Max Holmberg, drums, and Joe Doria, organ, joined by a guitarist and full horn section.

“I’ve had the pleasure of tuning into KPTZ for a few years now, ever since I started working with Centrum, and it’s truly a priceless community asset,” Dugdale said. “Not only because of the quality of the programming but because the DJs, staff and volunteers are so passionate about the station.”

“We’re very excited to be a part of this great event,” he added.

A 2017 Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award nominee, in n the category of Emerging Artist of the Year, Dugdale has been featured in Earshot Jazz magazine and is quickly becoming a coveted performer in the Seattle funk, R&B and jazz scenes. An accomplished musician, he is also a captivating tap dancer and was invited to serve as the Educator Track Coordinator for Centrum’s 2017 Jazz Port Townsend workshop and festival.

“Alex’s energy is infectious both on and off stage; this is not a performance you’ll be able to stay seated for,” said Megan Claflin, a board member for KPTZ. “We’re very pleased to welcome such a talented artist to headline our annual event and welcome the community to come on out and get funky with us!”
