Discovery Dance welcomes the multiple award-winning Stacy Jones Band to the Port Townsend Elks on January 15th.  The dance starts at 8:00pm.

Stacy Jones is the winner of the 2015 IMEA (International Music and Entertainment Stacy JonesAssociation) award for Best Blues Song "Can't Do Nothin' Right" off her newest album Whiskey, Wine, & Water. She is continually nominated for "Best of the Blues" awards in songwriting, performance, harmonica, guitar and winning vocalist of the 2010 and 2014 She has performed at the Chicago Blues Festival, SXSW, juke joints in Mississippi, river boats in California, headlined festivals, and shared stages with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Lee Oskar, and many other legends. Her music has been described as "A Whiskey & Water Baptism that lace Blues and Rock edges." “With her feet firmly planted in roots based music, Stacy Jones pays homage to the blues but experiments by mixing in some mild-Americana and subtle country licks. In addition to her distinctive vocals, Stacy plays acoustic and electic guitar, harmonica, and keyboards.  Joining her is Kevin Andren Sutton on lead guitar and vocals,  Rick J. Bowen on drums and vocals, and Tom Jones on bass.   Kevin has been entertaining folks for many years, in the Northwest and beyond. Around these parts, he made a name for himself as part of the Miles from Chicago band, continued on by fronting the Wired! Band (who represented the WBS in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge and won in Stacy Jones Band2012), as part of the award winning Hot Wired Rhythm Band, playing in the Stacy Jones Band, playing solo, duo and guesting at numerous gigs. Kevin has a desire to continually evolve his musical styles, whether it's electric with a band, or co-hosting an acoustic jam. Some of his awards include WBS BB's for Blues Performer of the Year, Best Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the year.

A free (with admission) workshop in beginning West Coast Swing will be offered by Janice Ekland at 7:00 p.m.  Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. Couples and singles are welcome. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free dance open to all ages.
