Discovery Dance is thrilled to welcome back Robin Bessier and Full Circle to the Port Townsend Elk on Friday, May 20 at the Port Townsend Elks. The dancing begins at 8:00 p.m. following a free (with admission) dance lesson.

Bessier and Full Circle play a mix of the best dance music from the 1920's to today. Thesongbook includes Duke Ellington, Bill Withers, Ray Charles, Cole Porter, Lerner & Lowe, Full CircleBenny Goodman, Tina Turner, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Johnny Mandel, Burt Bacharach, and Nat King Cole. Bessier's two prior dances performances at the Elks kept dancers on the floor from opening to close. Look forward to East Coast Swing. Night Club 2-Step, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Two-Step, West Coast Swing, and blues.

Full Circle is composed of professional musicians Robin Bessier on vocals and percussion, Ed Donahue on trumpet, George Radebaugh on piano, Ted Enderle on bass, Tom Svornich on drums, and Bill Kiely on percusssion. All have played in bands across the Northwest and the country.

A free (with admission) lesson in rumba will offered at 7:00 p.m. by locatl dance instructor Janice Eklund. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. Couples and singles are welcome. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free and scent-free dance open to all ages.

The Olympic Peninsula Dance Club presents Port Townsend's dance-friendly Three Chords and the Truth on February 20 at the Port Townsend Elks. The dancing begins at 8:00 p.m. following a free (with admission) dance lesson.

Buffalo Bill CodyThree Chords and the Truth offer classic country and western tunes including two-step, country waltz, rockabilly blues, country swing and cha-cha. The band is led by Doug Warren on guitar and fiddle, Dave Llewellen, Esq. on steel guitar, Jim Newberry on fiddle, Bruce Cannavaro on bass, and Mark Sabella on drums. This performance might also offer a surprise guest singer, and promises a country rockin’ good time.

A free (with admission) lesson in country two-step will offered at 7:00 p.m. by local dance instructor Janice Eklund. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. Couples and singles are welcome. No partner or registration is necessary.

Maia Santell & House Blend Play for OPD at the Port Townsend Elks April 18th sticky icon

Sweet, sassy and satisfying dance music is on tap Friday, April 18 at the Port Townsend Elks with a visit from Tacoma's Maia Santell & House Blend. The dance, sponsored by Olympic Peninsula Dance, welcomes both singles and couples.

Maia SantellOn vocals, Santell's powerful voice -- compared to Bonnie Raitt -- is bold, playful and full of confidence. She's known as "an entertainer's entertainer," delivering songs with a style that's dynamic and full of musical joy.

Backing up Santell, House Blend's guitar, saxophone, bass and drums represent a who's who of Northwest jazz and blues royalty. These seasoned musicians appeal to all age audiences, and dancers are especially enthused by their mix of styles. For more than two decades Santell and House Blend have been favorites around the Pacific Northwest at nightclubs, casinos, festivals, dances, cruises, and special events.

The group performs a mix of jazz, blues, swing, Latin, rhythm and blues, big band hits and contemporary favorites, with a repertoire featuring the best in popular dance music from the 1940's through the 1990's. Maia Santell and House Blend's playlist reflects songs made famous by such artists as Duke Ellington, Etta James, B.B. King, Billie Holiday, Brooks and Dunn, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Santana, Linda Ronstadt, Billie Holiday, Eric Clapton, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Patsy Cline, Wilson Pickett, Fats Domino and Peggy Lee, to name a few. Jim Nyby and the "F" Street BandOlympic Peninsula Dance kicks off its 17th season on Friday, September 21 at the Elks Club with a benefit swing dance featuring, and contributed by, the Jim Nyby & the F Street Band plus silent auction. A Country Waltz lesson begins at 7:00pm, followed by Nyby’s Band at 8:00pm. Both are open to the public

Red-hot blues and swing dancing come to the Port Townsend Elks on Friday, November 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. with a visit from the Seattle powerhouse band, Stickshift Annie with Kimball and the Fugitives.  The dance, which is open to all, is sponsored by Olympic Penninsula Dance.

Discovery Dance presents Tony Petrillo and the Roundabout Quintet, November 17 at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge. We begin the evening with a FREE dance lesson in Night Club 2-Step, taught by professional dance instructor Janice Eklund. After you’re warmed up, LIVE MUSIC begins at 8:00 p.m. New and seasoned dancers are welcome. No partner or previous dance experience is necessary to join in the fun.

Tony Petrillo is a scuba diver, oceanographer, industrial engineer, guitar player, and jazz singer. His singing is reminiscent of the crooners of the 40s. The music is smooth and jazzy in classic dance tradition; perfect for Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz and every song is a hit. Adding to Tony’s expert lead, Kurt Festinger, aka Professor Kurt, plays horns like none other, and adds his infectious rhythm to the bands energy.

George Radebaugh, keyboard extraordinaire, marathon runner and funny man is a mainstay. Tim Sheffel, long time expert drummer, plays percussion with crackerjack perfection, and Dirk Anderson keeps dancers hopping with his upright bass playing.

A free (with admission) lesson in Nightclub Two-Step will offered at 7:00 p.m. by professional dance instructor Janice Eklund. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. Couples and singles are welcome. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free and scent-free dance open to all ages.

Admission: $12.

Discovery Dance is a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting partner dancing on and around the Olympic Peninsula.

Our next dance held December 15th will be our Holiday Party at the Masonic Hall featuring Seattle band Wergleyburg.
